Commercial Fishing

Seventeen billion marine animals are killed each year in the United States so that people can eat their flesh. Today’s commercial fishers use massive ships and sophisticated electronic and satellite technology to track fish schools. Thousands of fish are taken from their homes in one scoop of a giant net. Larger fish are often dragged aboard by workers who gouge hooks and pick axes into their bodies.
